October is Fair Trade Month
Cafe Mam has sourced certified Organic & Fair Trade, shade grown coffee beans from indigenous cooperatives since 1990. They're also Small Producer Certified (SPP).
Fair Trade Certified coffee guarantees a minimum price per pound, & provides producers premiums for community development.
One of the 5 coops Cafe Mam works with, Union Majomut recently inaugurated a new composting facility. They used their Climate Change Mitigation funds from Café Mam to expand specific biopreparations for soil fertility and resistance to pests and disease.
