It's that time of year when corn is coming on strong. We're fortunate to feature delicious corn from local, 4th generation farmers that grow it right, at ME & Moore farm.
This family farm was started by Scott Moore and Mary Evonuk Moore, while other members of the Evonuk family till the land just down the road. Scott and Mary's son and daughter-in-law, Brian & Leah returned to the farm to carry on this tradition alongside their elders.
ME & Moore is located in the "morning shadow of Mt Pisgah", as Mary says her dad used to say. The Evonuk's have been growing fresh, tasty food for our community in that stretch of our Willamette Valley for over 60 years. They specialize in orchard fruits, corn, pumpkins and much more. Customers often call Capella Market days or weeks before the anticipated arrival of this summer treat or their fall pumpkins.
In their own words, "As a small family farm, we take a small family farm approach to growing food. While we do use some conventional farm practices, we are able to take a targeted approach, monitoring our crop and pests—particularly invasive ones—closely to ensure minimal intervention. Many of our crops don’t even need spray, so they don’t get it." If you have any questions about specific crops and their pest and disease management, you can call the farm direct from 8am-6pm for more information. See their website for more details.
So drop on by Capella Market today and get a taste of the rich history that our farm neighbors and this fertile valley soil have to offer us all. Enjoy!
